This round is hanging with me, partly b/c it was so memorable of a place. I played better than the score shows, it was literally two bad swings a side that cost me about 10 strokes. Very cold to start out, it was hard to swing well in those layers. Middle part of the round felt great. Last 5 holes are dead into the wind on the way back to the clubhouse including the signature par 3 #17 over the lake. The Dye tees are 6475 but the caddie said it plays around 6750. If that holds true then the tips are 7356 and would play close to 7600!

#1: drive down the center, missed a 5' putt for par. ok start.
#2: drive went short right fairway on a long dog leg left par 5. good second shot. put the 3rd in a creek 10 yards in front of me. 1 of the 4 bad swings of the day.
#3: pulled drive left into some crap. had to play laterally back into play. went in a fairway trap about 10 feet deep. Fantastic up and down from about 50 yards out on a tough green complex.
#4: Bombed the drive. 1 putt. #1 handicap=par
#5: Bad tee shot, went left into sand. Up and down for par. 15' putt.
#6: first GIR. easy 2 putt for par.
#7: Starting to feel good. Great drive, easy second shot, on the green and miss 15' birdie putt. Tap in par.
#8: Perfect ball strike off the tee. Lands middle of the green and releases off the back into a waste bunker about 10' below the surface of the green. hard wet sand leads to 3 sand shots to get out. horrible penalty for such a great tee shot. Pete Dye at his finest.
#9: easy par to finish front 9 with 5 pars.
#10: lucky drive. perched on top of a peninsula. 5 feet shorter and it would have been 20' down in a waste bunker.
#11: Easy par 5, Fairway, GIR, 2 putt. Missed 18' birdie.
#12: Easy par 4, Fairway, GIR, 2 putt. Missed 12' birdie.
#13: Best drive of the day, inside 100 yards and have the second pitiful swing of the day and shank it into water hazard directly to my right. Drop, duff it, and then still don't get it close enough for a 1 putt. Really bad 7 after that tee shot.
#14: Tough par 3 into the wind. Very tough green, was 15' below green in a collection area off the tee.
#15: Second bad drive of the day. Had to play lateral into a waste bunker. 2 strokes to get out of bunker. 1 putt saved for a DB.
#16: LONG 540 yards into the wind. Plays like 650 per caddie. Sitting 60 yards shy of green in 3 with pin tucked in the back. 15' deep bunker off the back left that is a must avoid. Try to pitch into the middle of the green and let it release to hole. Get too much and it trickles into the deep bunker. Takes two to get out and then 2 putt. Horrible mistake when par was in play still.
#17: Great 4 iron shot into 182 yard par 3 with water the entire carry. I played it to the shorter part of the green which was probably 165 carry with 15 mph wind in the face.
#18: Jennie joined me here. Good drive to cut the corner. Caught the second shot fat but still sitting about 60 yards out in 2. Need birdie to break 90...duff the chip. Put it on the green and proceed to get my only 3 putt of the day. Not the way you want to end the round with 2 wasted strokes.

Phenominal caddie - Robert - was caddie for Robert Karlsson at the 2012 PGA Championship. Patrick was the other caddie.

Dying to play there again. "Pebble Beach of the east coast"...but Pebble Beach is superior!

-Missed 5 putts inside 6'.
-Only 2 bad drives out of 14 is great. Those two (#3 and #15) cost 4 strokes due to playing lateral and getting stuck for an extra shot each time in the fairway bunker)
-4 iron on #2 in the water - center of fairway topped it into creek.
-3 wasted shots on #8 out of the sand behind the green. miss short next time!
-shanked wedge on #13, 3 wasted shots.
-strong armed pitch on #16 into 15' deep greenside bunker, 3 wasted strokes.
-duff wedge on 18, led to 3 putt.

Wedge cost about 8 strokes on the round.
